Property Tax Analyst
About the role
Google's in-house tax team knows all things corporate tax. Made up of smart, perceptive Googlers with a flair for domestic, international, and sales and use tax, the knowledge and expertise of this team runs deep. You have years of experience in this field and an extensive knowledge of those tax issues most relevant to internet companies.
Responsibilities
- Participate in special projects/studies around tax incentives, financial records and systems, investment planning, tax modeling, valuation analysis, and other property tax projects.
- Assist in coordinating with outside advisors to ensure compliance with property tax filings, audits/appeals, bill payments, and tax planning.
- Support the build and development of property tax calculations for Google properties.
- Develop databases and models and conduct in-depth analysis of tax data for audits, compliance, valuation, and due diligence projects.
- Collaborate with tax, various cross-functional teams, and outside service providers in resolving complex tax positions and assist in establishing policies and procedures for tax position analysis and documentation to minimize tax exposure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in a corporate tax function (e.g., property tax) or a related analytical role like valuation or financial analysis (e.g., tax consulting firm).
- Experience performing analysis on datasets, using tools like SQL, Python, or Alteryx for data validation, financial modeling, or translating data into actionable information.
- Experience building relationships and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Preferred qualifications: Experience with property tax compliance and valuation matters in various jurisdictions.
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience working in a fluid environment, balancing teamwork and separately working with a customer-centric focus.
- Ability to organize voluminous quantifies of complex tax data using software tools.
- Ability to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
- Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage datasets (e.g., SQL).
